在哈佛，有一门课是所有大一学生必修的，那就是写作课。写作会让人变得更精确，更具有思考能力。通过个人文书训练，学生将提升写作能力并完成一篇优秀的个人文书。文书写作的过程，也是一个学生发现自我的过程，在经验丰富的老师带领下，学生通过一个故事来展现自己的个性，将避免个人文书写作上的错误表达方式和展现形式。

Common APP 7大文书主题解析
1. 分享自己的故事和背景
Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
作为最常出现的经典文书题目，学校看重申请人背景的多样性以及在成长路上的独特之处。申请者可以多从background, identity, interest, talent等方面进行头脑风暴。
2. 从挑战、挫折或失败中的学习
The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
招生官通常想知道，学生们在面对困难时是如何应对以及怎样克服的。回答问题时应该聚焦向招生官展现自己坚韧不拔、乐观积极、灵活应变等能力品质，并且希望从中学习成长、积累经验的态度观点。
3. 对观点的质疑
Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome?
通过该题目，招生官可以判断申请者critical thinking能力。在论点的选择上，可以尽量避免挑选一些常识性或者过于宏大的真理。尽管内容新颖博人眼球，但是读者观点可能会两极分化，容易踩到雷点。
4. 感激是如何激励你的
Reflect on something that someone has done for you that has made you happy or thankful in a surprising way. How has this gratitude affected or motivated you? 招生官希望通过该题目，了解到申请者在社会上是如何与人相处的。重点应该放在对别人的反应和回馈上，你是如何表达以及传递感情的。
5. 个人成就
Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
可以从"accomplishment"和"event"入手，让招生官了解你的成长过程以及心路历程。每个申请者成长的轨迹和具有里程碑的事件都是不一样的。可以着重描述这件事给你带来的新的认知或理解，以及你对未来有了怎样的规划或展望。越是生活中的一些小事，有时越容易写出令人印象深刻的文书。
6. 兴趣爱好热情
Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more?大学学习是个不断接触新知识的过程。在该题目中，招生官想要看到你的兴趣来源，你为什么会被吸引，以及你是如何去进行探索了解的。
7. 自定义主题
Share an essay on any topic of your choice. It can be one you've already written, one that responds to a different prompt, or one of your own design. 这道题目给申请者们更多的自由发挥空间，可以写任何想写的东西。如果前面6个主题都没有戳到申请者想挥笔创作的欲望，可以考虑选择这道题目。

个人文书写作课程概述 Personal Essay Writing Class Introduction
招生对象:
面向8至12年级学生。本课程采用全英文，小班授课。具体课程的前置要求,请参见课程报名链接。
WT-101: This course covers a range of essay writing aspects such as brainstorming, content development, prompt analysis, outline creation, UC essay exercises, peer feedback, highlighting strengths in supplemental essays, crafting unique responses to prompts, and addressing extracurricular and diversity prompts.
课程形式:
- 每周一次2个小时, 英语教学, 在Zoom平台直播，课后有视频回放。
- 每门课程跨度为8周，共16 credit hours。
2024暑期课程安排：
课程目的：加强学生的写作能力，通过学习联系如何写个人文书，老师带领学生头脑风暴，并系统架构学生的个人文书，老师会对每篇文书提出修改意见，通过8周课程完成一篇个人文书的撰写。
课程时间： 7/6-8/24/2024，每周六12-2:00 PM PST（即2-4:00PM CST，3-5:00PM EST 或自行换算至其他时区）
